QAPCO has a long and proud history of working and collaborating with Qatar University on engineering and other academic projects that showcase the knowledge, talent, skills and ingenuity of the younger generation of Qataris. The Life is Engineering Project 2012; an initiative created by Qatar University to promote Engineering to young Qatari students is one such project where QAPCO and the University work together to educate young students on the benefits of pursuing Engineering as a career.
The Life is Engineering Project 2012 was jointly sponsored by QAPCO, an organization where the promotion of ideas and the facilitation of creative thinking is a time-honored tradition and corporate culture. QAPCO also provided two technical experts from the Plant to facilitate the production of the cars, taking their commitment to promote technical education amongst Qataris one step higher.
To celebrate the closing ceremony of this year’s project, Mr. Rashid Al Sulaiti, QAPCO’s Chief Administration Officer stressed the need for preparing the younger generation of Qataris to step into practical life and work for the community and country. “Engineering is a field where passion rules. You must be genuinely interested, highly inquisitive and rearing to put into practice whatever comes to the mind. Engineering is another name for creativity. That is why we, at QAPCO, believe that now is the perfect time to showcase all that is good about Engineering to the young students who participated in this event.” He added, “Making cars and racing them around the tracks – there is no better way to learn something than by learning through doing it! I am certain that the young students who actively participated in this high-tech project will be sufficiently bitten by the ‘engineering bug’ to want to continue studying the subject and one day take their place in society as dedicated professionals in the Oil & Gas sector.”
Expanding on QAPCO’s collaboration with Qatar University, Mr. Al Sulaiti assured Professor Al Mesnad, President of Qatar University and Dr. Mazen Hasna, Dean of Engineering at Qatar University, of QAPCO’s continued support “to the Education Sector throughinitiatives, such the Life is Engineering project, as ultimately it will enhance the knowledge and skills of Qatari Nationals preparing them to be the future leaders and engineers of our Country.”
Also, present at the event was Mr. Nasser Al Attiya, President of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycling Federation (QMMF) and other delegates from the Oil & Gas Industry, Qatar University and QMMF.
